Don’t have the energy to sit and blog in depth about all of them.

I know this is not August 2007. I might be about 5 months late in watching Chak De India, but then again its never too late.

Its a great movie. Not because its a sport movie. Most sport movies
portray team work and the underdogs who win because the coach inspired
them. I kind of expected that. Sport has something special, that no other art form has. It can take
you to the top of the world and make you feel miserable. The highs and
lows are felt. A person not involved might say, its just a game, the
ones following it or playing it will tell you, there is nothing else
that matters. But, all that is only at the surface of this movie and very forgettable.

This movie was special because it has communicated to India what Remember the Titans did to America. In India, the money divide and the communalism is as big a problem as racism is in the US. Subtle things have brought out the way Indians from one region perceive their fellow countrymen. The way an Indian from one region is completely unaware of the rest of the country.

Being from Bombay, I always felt that the entire country lives the life I see around me. There is nothing wrong in being ignorant about it, its natural. What is disturbing is the attitude to NOT accept the differences and co-exist. Working in Hyderabad in an office which has a very good mix of people from all over India and an almost democratic representation of the diversity helps me understand & appreciate the motives behind the way this movie is made.

A mention of the day India won the 20-20 Cricket World Cup is a must over here. I guess this post should paint that evening’s picture.

I always get inspired after watching a movie and usually just ignore the goofs and the silly things that happen in movies. So all of you who have watched the movie will point out the flaws in the movie and the way it is just a replica of other movies with an Indian flavour, maybe you are right, but that doesn’t change the fact that I liked the movie and I had a nice time watching this one. What’s the next movie I’ll watch?
