I usually use any of the following:
- PrimoPDF is a virtual printer which sits along with your other printers and is available as a printer when you do the usual File>Print in programs, this outputs the file in PDF format and gives you the option to actually make your document secure, and choose several other formatting options.
- Google Docs is always an option. However, you need to be connected to the internet and you have to upload your documents. You need a simple Google Account (free).
- OpenOffice.org has a built in option to export as PDF and a dedicated button for this on the toolbar.
- Email your file as an email attachment to pdf@koolwire.com and they will reply to you with the pdf. It comes in handy and is fast. You dont need to download or install anything, and all you need is internet access. Your privacy is in place as the attachment is processed on the server and deleted immediately, but still if you want to sleep peacefully use PrimoPDF or OpenOffice.org .
I am sure there are tons of other ways, but the above 4 are all easy to use and also free(as in beer).
Post your method in the comments.
Nice! I like the email things, awesome idea.
